Our Community Heart
At Zion Christian Fellowship, we believe that true faith is expressed through action. Our Lord Jesus Christ modelled a life of serving others, and we are called to follow His example right here in Ponoka, Alberta.
From visiting the sick and elderly to sending cards of encouragement, our outreach programs are designed to meet real needs with genuine compassion. We don't just gather on Sundays — we intentionally seek to be a blessing in our community throughout the week.
Every volunteer, every visit, every handwritten card is an expression of God's love flowing through our fellowship and into the lives of our neighbours.
Our Outreach Programs
Hospital Visitation Ministry
One to two times each month, a team of dedicated volunteers from our fellowship visits the Ponoka auxiliary hospital. Our volunteers play the piano, sing familiar hymns, and spend time in prayer and conversation with patients.
This ministry has become a cherished highlight for many patients, bringing comfort, spiritual encouragement, and a reminder that they are not forgotten. The smiles and gratitude we receive in return are a profound reminder of why this work matters.
Seniors' Bible Study
A dedicated member of our congregation leads a weekly Bible study at a seniors' residence in Ponoka. This gathering provides a time of spiritual nourishment, fellowship, and meaningful discussion for elderly residents who may not be able to attend regular church services.
The weekly Bible study has become a treasured appointment in the lives of many residents, offering them connection to God's Word and a caring community that values their wisdom and presence.
Greeting Card Ministry
Zion Christian Fellowship sends greeting cards to both members and non-members of the fellowship. These cards — sent for birthdays, illnesses, bereavements, and other occasions — carry a personal message of care, encouragement, and the love of Christ.
In a digital age, a handwritten card carries extraordinary meaning. This simple yet powerful ministry has touched countless lives and opened doors for deeper relationships throughout the Ponoka community.
Local Community Partnerships
Zion Christian Fellowship partners with local organizations and community groups in Ponoka to address the needs of families, individuals, and seniors in our area. We believe in working together with other community leaders to create a stronger, more caring Ponoka.
